I would not advocate you to go skiing in the vicinity of Helsinki or the Lake district (I believe you meant eastern Finland) by new 12 months, considering that it can be not a hundred% confident that there will be snow. Or of training course they have this fake snow that they shoot on the hills if there is no normal snow, but skiing on organic snow is a lot greater than on fake.

So I would advise you to go around Lapland, or even in Lapland, if you want. Levi, Ruka and Saariselkä are some of the best skiing spots we have here in Finland. Saariselkä specially due to the fact you can witness the Sami way of life there.

Ruka: http://www.ruka.fi/winter season_eng/
Levi: http://www.levi.fi/
Saariselkä: http://www.saariselka.fi/index.php?la=en

Take pleasure in your new yr.

Question by Zach: would the Zero Xposur Stretch Ski Colorblock Jacket be good for snowboarding?
I saw this jacket at Kohl's and it said it was a ski jacket and it only costs 80 bucks and i was wondering if it would be good for snowboarding.

Best answer:

Answer by asm231
It would probably do, but it wouldn't be the best thing by any means. I don't think zero xposure jackets are very well waterproofed, which is really important for snowboarding since we spend so much time sitting in the snow. You want a jacket that has at least a 5k waterproof rating, and ideally 10k or over. I've tried on zero xposure jackets before, and find they tend to be bulky and constraining, also a downside. It's a brand you find in department stores like Kohl's or the Bon Ton or whatever, but not something you see in outdoor sports stores.

A good snowboarding jacket doesn't have to be ridiculously expensive. You can check out outlet sites such as sierrasnowboard.com or backcountryoutlet.com to see if you can find a jacket on clearance from last year.

What do you think? Answer below!
