the vinyl one might hold up to the power of scotchguard..

get something with at least 10 K breathability/waterproofing if you want something guarenteed waterproof and breathable get a gore tex jacket... you will always stay dry and will stay a lot warmer
try backcountry.com they have a lot of deals and are a great site to buy from

I'm a fan of Columbia and Northface. Columbia might be more reasonable price wise. I am sure there are some decent deals now at stores on coats. Particularly sporting goods stores.

i used a product called 'goo-be-gone' that took price tag gunk off of glasses beautifully. my friend recommended it after using it to remove dact tape gunk off of a plastic chair.
